Excalibur by Heller: A Design Icon by Philippe Starck

A toilet brush as a design icon? Excalibur proves it’s possible. This remarkable brush is the result of a collaboration between renowned French designer Philippe Starck and the innovative brand Heller. Starck once called the design “the most humble service I could give” – and for him, that made it the ultimate challenge.

Excalibur is anything but ordinary. With its sword-like handle that protects the user’s hand and its tapered wand with a nylon brush, the piece resembles a futuristic flower. It’s no surprise that Excalibur was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2000.

Made from post-consumer recycled plastic, Excalibur is available in a range of bold colors. “It’s an object that must be present but remain discreet,” he said.

With Excalibur, even a toilet brush becomes a stylish statement.
